My background in Criminal Justice granted me the opportunity to work with Forsyth County Juvenile Court for seven years. This experience allowed me to help adolescents and their families in a variety of capacities. Watching the transformations of clients who were offered the opportunity for rehabilitation motivated me to further my education in Community Mental Health Counseling. I currently work with Forsyth County Felony Drug Court and Misdemeanor DUI court in addition to working with private clients. I collaborate with schools, probation officers, psychologists and psychiatrists.
Therapeutic Approach: Client Centered, Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Family Systems Theory. I see value in approaching goals holistically, and I often recommend goals to improve physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. I blend these approaches to best suit my client’s needs. I view counseling as an opportunity for growth and a chance to alleviate discomfort that may prohibit the client from reaching their personal goals. I believe the therapeutic relationship should be one of a collaborative nature. I welcome clients’ direction and input during session and always strive to meet clients where they are in their personal journey.
Areas of focus: Anxiety, stress, depression, substance abuse, co-dependency, attention deficit disorder, grief, self-esteem, life transitions, academic difficulties. Alcohol and Drug Evaluations for both adolescents and adults and Anger Assessments for adults.
Rate: $90 per 50 minute session. I accept Aetna, BCBS, Cigna & Humana.
